Mary L. Umberger

Mary L. Umberger earned her Bachelors in Communication at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, then interned at the Department of State in Washington, DC, where she was hired in the Communication and Information Policy Bureau.    Discovering that she missed academic life, she left the State Department and earned her Masters and Doctorate in Communication from the University of Maryland.  In 1993, she returned to Nebraska, and has been teaching at Metropolitan Community College since then, where she is active in the faculty union.
